Mumbai: Famous actor Manojkumar died in Mumbai at the age of 87, celebrating his roles in patriotic films like Prabhu Aur Pasim and Kranthi.
He was admitted to Kokiraven Dilbai Ambani Hospital and passed away at 3:30am on Friday due to heart-related complications. According to medical certificates from the hospital, the secondary cause of death was depreciated compensation for liver cirrhosis, NDTV reports.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his sadness over the loss of “legendary actors and filmmakers” on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Sharing two photos with the late actor, Prime Minister Modi wrote: “He was an icon of Indian cinema, particularly remembered for his patriotic spirit that resonated with his films. Manoji Ji’s work continues to inspire national pride and inspire generations.
In an interview with the press ANI, Kumar’s son Kunal Goswami revealed that his father had been suffering from health issues for a long time. “By God’s grace he left this world peacefully. His cremation will be held tomorrow morning… he was happy and a little sick.” Born in Abotabad in 1937 as Harikrishnangoswami (at that time in India in England and now in Pakistan, Kyaba Pakhtunkhwa), Kumar made his Bollywood debut in fashion in 1957.
