Kuru's Internet Obsession: Japanese Mathematics Rock, Yume 2kki, Gossip Girl

“I Make the Queen Look Like Kyoto,” the 19-year-old internet rap star Crew was unlocked with her sophomore album, “I Saw It Coming.” Keep the truth foreverreleased today. That line may be off the cuff, but it suggests the deep importance of a new wave of digital rap music, with Kuru at the heart of it.

Born in Maryland and now based in New York, Kuru's emerging Digicore sound is woven into the pulsating mainframe of the internet, causing time and space to collapse into a torrent of information. Old school drums 'n' bass rubbing their shoulders with kart-esque fury melody, with references to the ubers and “count bands” standing with almost countless mandarin lyrics from Rising Chinese Star Jazzebra. It may be overwhelming for those born before 2000, but it is hard to argue with Kuru when they tell me, “Today is more creative than ever.”

“I originally started for a very random deep dive in 2019. This led me to this SoundCloud Collective called LoserSclub.” They quickly linked with Discord and Jackzebra through the legendary Xaviersobased robbing of the basement of New York, gradually joined the dots among other young Digis who were broken up in music makers around the world.

As is characteristic of many of these artists, Kuru takes names from the online pseudonyms used on these online platforms during his childhood, when he spent “over-games, especially Peak Minnecraft and CSGO Days.” They quickly point out that it has no connection to infectious neurodegenerative diseases of the same name – “I only knew about illness and shit, but that's modestly scary,” they sigh. “I think I'll have to fight against some cannibalism in the Google search engine now.”

Needless to say, Kuru's scene has deep roots in online circles, but this digital sound has been spreading to the IRL space in recent years. The impact of XavierSobased now goes far beyond the niche Discord servers, and even more distant artists like Snowstrippers and NetTspend are currently closing venues around the world. “I think things have progressed to this point because the artists are actually developing the images behind the sound,” Kuru explains. “In the previous 'Underground' scenes, a lot of people would blow up everywhere, but no one really stuck because there was no face in the name. ”

Still, despite this deep online upbringing, Kuru shows an astonishing maturity for the artist, only 19 years old. “I need to get hell out of my phone. Shit is not an energy reach,” they look back at free time outside of music. “Usually, I'm either looking for more clothes or just wandering around with my friends. Every day is a random side quest. But look at Queens, Queens. It's really like Queens. teeth In the end, it turns into Kyoto.

Kuru: Honestly, I'm a really big fan of Japanese mathematics rock and have been going on for years. I feel this is a general answer for now, but it still roams around perfect everyday work and music as I get to use my brain more for strange time signatures. Bands like Uchu Conbini and Paranoid void are great.

Yume 2kki. Much more. I really like the original Yume nikki Similarly, it is one of the few games that I feel truly resonated. but, 2kkidespite it being fangs, I feel more immersive visual experience. There are so many gorgeous things out there and the soundtrack is fantastic. And I'm not just saying it because I have two songs. Before that, I played for years.

This may be the best video ever, but I really can't even start telling you what I've been hanging out with people over and over again and again. I think this shit is a sign that I really need to get off my phone.
