Leostaytrill knows that many artists who blow up social media cannot translate their success into cohesive, well thought out projects construction. Over the past year, the Bromley rapper has become an online sensation thanks to huge singles like pop-sampling “Crazy Love” and “2s n 3s”, earning two Mobo nominations, appearing on the NME 100, connecting with British rap stars such as Dave, Dave and Tion Wayne. However, he recently told ITV overview He focuses on “leaving away from that Tiktok artist bubble.”
His debut EP ‘Home Alone’ reflects that shift as a precocious 18-year-old who first attracted public attention on a TV show several years ago Children of voice KSI’s “Pop” Challenge – Improves an African-inspired rhythm and a subtle funky blend of British drills. The project’s title reflects the way Leostartril (real name Tinotenda Leon Gandanzara) has been living a lonely studio-centric life recently, but producer Xeretto deserves credit to Sonic World, created with “Home Alone.”
The pair have been working together for years, tweaking a charming, minimalist production style that perfectly complements the flow and tricks of Gandanzara’s staccato, completely complementing the tricks to delivering a strong line with low-tone intimacy that makes him feel right next to you. This approach enhances a series of sharp and cleverly delivered bars, like this EP.I was like a Kings Cross DJ.” and “In fact, naturally, when I’m actually there, are you really going to talk about being on the top? /They are cats to become us, do you see?” (‘Of course).

Over eight short snappy tracks, the rappers use drills and afrobeat-influenced instrumentals that release real moods, like “Ya get dat” and “Hands on nees” (ft. K-trap). In this blueprint, last year’s freestyle “Pink Lemonade” became a viral hit, with Gundanzara in top form when she shoots this sound and moves to the adjacent streets.
The inclusion of “2S N 3S” in the EP is understandable with success in mind, but the track has its poppy overtones and expanded Jess Grin hooks, which appears to start from a more concentrated sound, thus making it a bit out of place. Nevertheless, the song marries dance-centric rhythms and witty rhymes, highlighting the consistent delivery of teenagers in both departments. “Home Alone” shows Leostartril can take that platform and level up from there, and with a firm statement of his love for project building, it’s fair to expect more Sonic and lyrics innovation from this exciting young British rapper.
