Hindi characters such as Aamir Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Prem Chopra and Asha Parev paid tribute to veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar at a prayer convention organized in his memory at a five-star hotel on Sunday.
Film credits, including Shaheed, Upkar, Purab Aur Pachhim, Roti Kapda Aur Makan and Krant, passed away early Friday morning at the hospital here due to age-related issues. He was 87 years old.
A large placard with a photo of a young Kumar decorated with a wreath of white flowers was placed at the entrance to the hotel. On July 24th, 1937, the actor’s real name, Harikrishan Goswami, was written along with his date of birth on April 4th, 2025 and his final of birth.
Others who attended the competition include Ramesh Sippy, Rakesh Roshan, Honey Irani, David Dhawan, Johnny Lever, Jaaved Jaaferi, Subhash Ghai, Aruna Irani, Ranjit, Shekhar Suman, Ashoke Pandit, Vindu Dara Singh, Mukesh Rishi Sinha, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan and Anu Malik.
When Irani arrived with his son Farhan Ahtar, Roshan was accompanied by his wife Pinky Roshan.
Kumar is known among fans as “Bharat Kumar” for his role in a series of patriotic films, and Woh Kaun Thi? He has also appeared in films such as Himalay Ki God Mein, Do Badan, Patthar Ke Sanam, and Hariyali aur raasta.
The actor was survived by his wife and two sons.
