Sneaker collaborations aren’t new to the fashion world, but it’s a rare sight for two brands to form an unlikely pairing and create something cool without a doubt. That was when Marni and Hoka announced they would drop a new take on the latter B3LS silhouette. No one is surprised, but the result is a set of four candy coloured, puffy, chunky sneakers that carry kitsch and camping air that can only be performed in such a specific way by brands like Marni, all with performance and technical design details that will make Hoka Shoes win the cult following. Naturally, I had to try them.
I know fact The new collaboration running this test was part of my job because Elle’s readers love cool sneakers. It’s no secret that Hoka makes good walking shoes. In particular, it features plenty of bounce and cushioning at every step. That’s the first reason I was keen to get the pair. Next up, when I see the latest sneaker collaboration, the Marni X Hoka Bondi B3LS boasts a silhouette that challenges my outfit choices. My personal style has a slight tone of streetwear, but these sneakers felt solidly in that lane (in the best way) so I tried to find a way to wear them that suited my style.
My first thoughts when I opened the box: These are fun. Regardless of the color, you will receive a set of poinkiana (red), straw (yellow), tourmaline (blue), or Bracken (brown) – lace: tone rope style, flat lace in tones, and wide lace in multicolored colors if you want extra oomph. We also have a fuzzy dust bag (hello, luxury). This focuses on Marni’s playful touch. What’s my immediate thought after sliding these? these are Perfect. Given the bulging nature of the silhouette, it’s not unexpected. And I don’t suggest you need to set up the size, but keep in mind that these may feel like a hug around your feet with extra force. As for how they feel about walking, I felt fully supported at every step.
I’m not going to lie. May I searched Google for “How to wear red sneakers” during the course of this story). Even my colleagues looked at the shoes and mentioned that they wanted to know how to wear them. But you can definitely say that these add a layer of cool to the ensemble you’re wearing. As for the way I decided to sport these, I usually chose something on the sole to lean on the swelling of my shoes (those dubbing “blobs”), or on other days I decided to wear trimmed pants and make my shoes stand up myself. I initially planned to style these in at least one ensemble. This showed my feet a little more, but unfortunately the cold weather and rain were not the most tolerant of such an appearance. That being said, I It was I’m going to wear it for a warm day, I play with a miniskirt with proportions and a relaxed T-shirt or an oversized sweater on top. For me, I’ll make these shoes come in the moment, but for you it might be the fast colours you need to brighten up your fit (and the vibrant, unexpected shades happen to be one of Elle’s top 2025 sneaker trends).
So, what are you waiting for? Go straight to hoka.com or marni.com and get the pair before these sell out.
