Ariel Winter says her “really deep” childhood trauma led to her decision to leave Hollywood.
The 27-year-old grew up almost on our screen as middle child Alex Dunphy Modern family. But off-screen, her life was not so fun and sweet as she faced scrutiny and trolls.
“It was all the headlines I read about myself. Grown up people write articles about me saying I look terrible or pregnant or like fatty sl*t. I mean, I was 14,” she told people. “It completely hurt my self-esteem.”
And as the hit sitcom concludes its final season in April 2022 (and I missed it too), Winter and her boyfriend, fellow child star Luke Benward, decided to move out of Los Angeles.

The actor Gretchen also spoke to Phineas and FerbHe grew up in LA and has been acting on screen through advertising since he was 4 years old.
She began to feel like a “target” in the media and online, but things were also difficult at home as she previously accused her mother, Chrisoula Workman, of abuse. Her mother publicly denied the allegations of abuse, and when Winter was 14, she looked after her sister, Chanel Gray.
“I have been in her custody and have been able to continue my great teen years,” she said.
Winter didn’t go into much detail about what she went through, but added that her “all childhood” was her single biggest source of trauma.
“It’s really a deep, painful, painful, painful part for me, and this is much deeper and bigger than I’m ready to talk about,” she explained.
The last movie star The actor says he can look back at “clearness and peace of mind” when he moved to Nashville and received treatment.

Two films of the year line up (one of which is also a producer), and Winter says she “didn’t leave the industry” while she left the place.
Similar to her on-screen appearance, Star has launched a podcast and is developing cooking shows.
“I just left the city of LA. It has some great memories for me. I was young and didn’t live anywhere else, so I thought, ‘Why?'” she explained.
“If you’re not at a network show you’re going to film, you don’t really need to be there. If you get a network show, you can easily go back.”
In addition to staying in the industry, Winter began volunteering at Sosa (safe from online sexual abuse) as a “decoy” to seduce internet pedophiles and lead to arrests.
“Technically, yes, I’m a survivor. I’ve experienced some s**t,” added the star. “But a lot of people have experienced some s**t. Calling me a survivor takes away from what I’m here. It’s about helping others and shining the spotlight on people who need it. Above all, my story would like to use her platform for good.
