The “American Idol” season 23 votes opened after the first batch of the top 24 contestants performed on Channel 2 on Sunday night.
The first 12 to take the stage at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii included Metro Atlanta singers Bailey Litrell and Slaternary. 12 other artists will perform on Monday night.

Slater Nary covers Judy Garland’s “Over the Rainbow”
Lionel Richie: “I think Slater is out across his age range. I don’t remember you having that kind of groan. I think you’ve grown into a top-notch artist, singer.”
Carrie Underwood: “I don’t understand. I don’t know how there’s such a talent and this many veteran expert to someone at the beginning of his career. I’ll meet you guys on stage and I’m where this person will go in ten years. I’m really saying, 10 years from now, what we’re saying, like you’re saying, 10 years from now, like you’re saying.
Luke Bryan: “It’s hard to follow what she said because she’s making money. I just say I’m happy with your career promises. The day I realized I was trying to do music for the rest of my life, that was a really important day. You’re going to do music for a really long time.”
Baylee Littrell covers Pharrell’s “Happy”
Lionel Richie: “I’m jealous. He’s not beginning his career yet. He’s on stage and the girls start screaming. There’s no record. It took nothing.
Carrie Underwood: “I feel like you own more of your voice and your moments. And I love watching it. I love watching you work on stage. I love watching you interact with the crowd.
Luke Bryan: “We’re sitting here and referring to you being a little thinner and a little quieter. But that’s how the show forces you to grow. And you answered the phone.”
The voting period for all performers on Sunday night ended at 6am Monday.
