BlackPink’s Jennie was definitely doing the hard work of two solo shows for the band this weekend, as the highly popular HBO vacation murder show wasn’t reliant on.
So, she absolutely packed outdoor theatre for a set that goes far beyond Club Bee Pop, which praises her for introducing a genre twist and a dignified ballad that finally makes room for space.

There is no competition between her and her bandmate Lisa at this festival. K-pop fans certainly have some pointy words if that is implied. Thus, the two have similar chart history to solo artists, and were given equally prominent slots this weekend. This is a strong assurance from Coachella that solo stardom stands out clearly.
Jennie’s LP “Ruby” was touted as a rare candid record that lives from the strict K-Pop Clampdown. Even if it ultimately shocks or reveals too much, Jenny has created a powerful case as a very intense vocalist who rocks back-up R&B, modern club music, vintage Belter and misty vibes with Grace.
But rather than leaning into the exaggerated club music native to Saharan tents, Jenny and her very existing live band spent much of her set at Lauryn Hill-Adjacent Lane, like “IE (Way Up)” which sampled Jennifer Lopez’s millennial classics about essential Jenny Dom. She pulled out Kari Uchis for “damn right” and swapped poems across cultures with equal respect to the incandescent spirit mood of the song.

She could hear her wonderful belts sing “handlebars” and “mantras.” It’s not the news that she is an incredibly accurate live performer, but she covered a ton of ground as a dancer, singing this demanding live material in Panash.
By the time she became a closer “like Jenny” Ravy “Starlight” which she might have owned at Charli XCX last night, she became Ravy “Starlight” and “Starlight” and “Starlight” and “Starlight” who proved she could do almost anything as a solo act.
