Anurag Kashyap has summoned Brahmin’s remarks by Surat Court
Mumbai – Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap He was summoned by the Surat Court on May 7 following complaints about his controversial remarks about the Brahmin community.
The complaint filed by lawyer Kamlesh Rawal on behalf of the Brahmin community cited Kashyap’s social media post and subsequent apology as evidence. The court accepted the material and issued a notice. If Kashyap or his lawyer does not appear, the court can proceed with a one-sided decision.
Rawal told IANS that Kashyap made an offensive comment on April 16 after being asked by Aditya Dutta to refrain from such a statement. Kashyap replied, “What did the Brahmin achieve?” Rawal filed complaints based on multiple sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 196, 197, 351, 352, 353 and 356.
Separately, RTI activist Atish Tiwari also filed a complaint against Kashyap in Mumbai.
Kashyap wrote in a social media comment, “Brahmin PE Main M ****** A .. Koi’s problem? (Pee in Brahmins… Something’s wrong?) The filmmaker later announced an apology not for the post itself, but for the backlash it produced.
“I can’t get back what I said, but this is my apology for the hatred that followed,” Kassyaup wrote, referring to the rape and death threats that his family and colleagues had received.
