The Cape (Cornwall & Area Pop Event) celebrated a major milestone on its 10th anniversary from April 26th to 27th, drawing thousands of fans to the Benson Center for a weekend packed with celebrity guests, cosplay contests, panel discussions and a weekend filled with over 75 exhibitors.
Special guests this year include Brian Pauson (Big Bang Theory), Michelle Mylett and Dylan Playfair (Letter Kenny), Melissa McIntyre and Microbell (Degraci: The Next Generation) who participated in meet and greet, photography and panels throughout the weekend.
“10 years – that's a milestone,” said Carol Sove, founder and co-organizer of Cape. “Some of the kids in attendance were not even born in our first cape. The fact that we are still here and our community is still supporting us means a lot of us.
Among the exhibitors was Angie Dillage, an interdisciplinary artist and writer. He has participated in almost every Cape since its inception. “I just went out and saw amazing cosplay where other artists, other talents and people do so much work. It's one of my favorites about the Cape,” Diraj said.
Cosplayer Collette Spencer, known as Soulette Cosplay, reflects the evolution of events over the past decade. “I started attending just like everyone else,” she said. “It's an absolute honor to be here as a cosplay guest right now. I love the creativity of cosplay. You can really express yourself and create your own character.”
Sove confirmed that the Cape will return next year, and the date is already set for April 25th-26th.
