Museum of Contemporary Art (MCASB) will be presenting live street dance, short films, evening of conversation, Jon Boogz and Junetteenth, in honor of the movement on Thursday, June 19th at 6pm at Santa Barbara, 653 Paseo Nuevo, Santa Barbara.
Reception continues at Paseo Nuevo Arts Terrace, followed by out-of-hours access to MCASB’s current exhibition, Arte Del Pueblo.
The program features choreographer, filmmaker and street dance artist John Boogue, whose work combines social justice themes with cinematic storytelling and movement.
Boogz will feature three fellow dancers and longtime collaborators, featuring live performances and screening of selected award-winning short films. The evening culminates in a Q&A, hosted by highly acclaimed street dancer and Ambassador Memphis Jokin Lil Buck.
“Boogz and Buck are artists who have the work that you’ve been with since you saw it,” said Ingrid Bostrom, a board member of MCASB.
“This June, we are honored to welcome them and their collaborators to Santa Barbara and to a programme that celebrates the transformational power of liberation, expression and performance,” Bostrom said.
