Brian Eno is reworking his 'powerful' David Bowie collaboration 'Get Real' for a new climate change album project.
The 75-year-old musician and songwriter first recorded the song in 2016 with Bowie, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 69. From the Outside sessions in the 1990s, his new version features recordings of hyenas and wild pigs, in keeping with the new record's theme.
He said on the podcast “Midnight Chats”: “Well, there are a lot of recordings of different animals here. I wanted to put a big, slightly menacing animal in this song. Instead of a bird or a wind or something, I tried a Siberian animal. ”Tiger, that was a little too overwhelming. I've always liked Luke, but he sounded like a duck in that context. And those are the two things I settled on. I'm currently working on a hyena and a wild pig, although this piece is not yet completed.
“It's a powerful song. It's got really good lyrics. And I think it's going to work really well because we're putting it in a new kind of container, a song about our relationship with the earth.”
And Brian is confident David would approve.
He said: “The Wild Pig sound is really good. It's in a frequency range that's very difficult to match with music, but I'm working on it. So, yes, David, Bligh and some We welcome wild pigs” Pigs!
“He would have loved it. Yeah, he'd say, 'That's nice, Bri. I think we should go ahead with it.'”
