Alex Garland will write and direct the adaptation of the live-action film for the world-famous video game Elden Ring from A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment's FromSoftware Inc., the company announced Thursday.
“Eldenling” was created under the guidance of Hidetaka Miyazaki of FromSoftware, based on a mythical story written by George RR Martin, author of the fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire.”
“Eldenring” is an action RPG set in the real world of dark fantasy. The game allows players to explore vast environments and dungeons to discover unknowns, and enjoy the sense of accomplishment that arises from overcoming obstacles and challenges. Combining the development capabilities of FromSoftware with the marketing capabilities of Bandai Namco Entertainment's international network, the title was released on February 25, 2022 and has shipped over 30 million units worldwide.
The film will be produced by Peter Rice along with Andrew MacDonald and Aron Reich of DNA, and produced by George RR Martin and Vince Geraldis.
The Elden Ring spinoff, Elden Ring Nightrign, is set to be released worldwide on May 30th. The title is an action game in which players cooperate to overcome various challenging situations.
While carrying “Eldenring” elements such as weapons and enemies, the game has been redesigned to offer players a whole new gameplay experience. Players choose from a cast of unique characters to stand up to new threats.
The live-action movie of “Eldenling” in his A24 film with director Alex Garland first appeared in The Wrap.
