fish I've returned to Hollywood Bowl Saturday, the penultimate show of the band's short West Coast spring tour. Among the highlights of the second show of Fish's three shows in Los Angeles were outstanding versions of “Ether Edge” and “Everything's Right” with each set fixed.
Saturday's show only had two songs on the first set of double-digit fine markers. Instead, Trey Anastasio, John Fishman, Page McConnelland Mike Gordon Fired quick hits like “Runaway Jim”, “Blaze on”, “Martian Monster”> “Feather Bird” and “555”. As the sun sets over the hills of Hollywood, Fish opens the “divided sky” before diving into the “etheric edge.” This 18-minute version spent most of the time in fun, light and resilient mode, which was just right, but in about 12 minutes it got darker and more like a prog due to Fishman's hammer knocking over the cymbal. Trey responded with his low octave pedals, making the final six minutes of the song a very exciting evil fish.

In the second set, things were a little more slender for 47 minutes without abating with “AC/DC bag”, “lifesaving gun”, “forgetting” and “running like an antelope”. Following the calm “Under the Sea of Stars” under the stars in Los Angeles, Fish finally dug with the “All Right” set. It was only 15 minutes long and was the second longest song on the show. What it lacked in length was made up forth by character. What began as a sparkling, sparkling jam turned from “etheric edge” in Set 1 to a lot of fun, chaotic progressive rocks, ending the second set with high notes.
