Chu directed the stage production bookwriter from Dana Fox and Winnie Holzman’s Spreeplays. Academy Award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz adapted the musical to the screen. Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth played the roles of Elphaba and Glinda on Broadway (and they appeared in surprise cameos in “one short day” sequences).
