Peeping Moon exclusive: Govinda's son's Bollywood debut Dream of Hold on Hold
Govinda's son Yashvaldan Ahuja's Bollywood debut suffers a serious setback, even before the camera rolls. The 28-year-old aspiring actor was scheduled to star in the Hindi remake of the 2023 Telugu romantic drama Baby, along with Babir Khan, the son of the late Irfan Khan. However, a sudden exit from Babil's project cast uncertainty on Yashvaldan's debut vehicle, resulting in indefinite delays.
The Hindi remake directed by national award-winning filmmaker Sai Rajesh, who directed the original Telugu version, was scheduled to begin filming on May 5th. However, the filming was suddenly cancelled following Babil's emotional outburst on Instagram Stories on the first night. His distress revealed sparked a backlash from director Rajesh, who responded critically on social media and caused a fierce online exchange between the two. The tension quickly escalated, and the actor began to leave the film two weeks later.
Once Babil gets out of the project, the producer is now back in the drawings, looking for alternatives to meet his role. The film is said to be on a very good pace, but production has been postponed indefinitely. “Manufacturers have spent nearly six months finalizing their female lead, debutante and are now facing the difficult task of recasting male leads. It takes a lot of time. For now, production is pending and no timeline has been confirmed for reopening,” a source close to development said.
The “Baby” remake produced by Madhu Mantena in collaboration with Allu Aravind's Geetha Arts and original Telugu producer Sreenivasa Kumar Naidu was to feature Babiru in the role of Anand Deverakonda, but Yashvardhan Ahuja was to recreate the character of Viraj Ashwin. The Hindi adaptation aims to retain the emotional core of the original Telugu version, and tells the story of two high school lovers whose relationships are tested by the paths of life, seduction, and divergence of personal growth, providing an emotional story about the complexities of love and self-discovery. However, due to a shortage of lead actors and uncertain timelines, the project is now facing uphill climbs.
