The Hollywood Demons documentary series from Investigation Discovery will shift the spotlight to the Power Rangers franchise in the upcoming episode, which will debut on Max on April 7th, with an exclusive first look clip of the episode here. The documentary explores many dark and tragic moments surrounding the history of the franchise. One of the first issues is the contracts that utilize new people in Hollywood and business, with very low wages for extreme working conditions. You can see the full clip in the video above.

The clip begins with Audri Dubois, who fans remember as the original Yellow Ranger of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers pilot. Dubois reveals how she received the original contract. This will be sent later in the day and you will have to return the first one in the morning, and there is little time for everyone to look at those contracts and find problems.
“So we were told we were going to sign a contract, it was like 7pm, and we were told we needed to go back by 7am the next morning,” DuBois said. “If we’re past 7am, you won’t go up this at all, you’ll be cut off.”
It was in front of email or our more connected online world, so it was difficult to get in touch with agents and lawyers that night. The fact that I wanted the first thing in the morning meant that I couldn’t see someone else’s contract the next day either. All this seemed to have been done to avoid such an analysis, and it seemed to work, as most had just signed it and hoped they could resolve the issue later.

Power Rangers was a non-union show. This means that wages and working conditions did not have to be in line with industry standards. The comparison raised other Union Shows at the time, and although the lead actors in the Union Show episode could create 50,000 per episode, you’ll see Power Rangers contract figures showing Ranger actors earn $750 per 30 minutes and $1,125 per hour.
“I was so naive that I thought I could sign this contract because once I signed it, I could speak the numbers later,” Devoice said. These contracts are called “It’s okay to kill you” at the end of the clip. You can find the official explanation for the episode below.
“Every kid in the 90s remembers Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the ultimate live action, the superhero show. Beneath the bright spandex and high-flying karate kicks there is a harsh reality of tragedy and scandal. Fate.”
Hollywood Demons Dark Side of the Power Rangers will premiere at its maximum Monday, April 7th at 9pm at 9pm.
