The Hollywood Stars play York's world-famous Chaplin twins in the new film “Bucking Furdaard.”
York's world-famous chaplin twin twins are the inspiration for new Hollywood movies.
Rooney Mara of Tinsel-Town A-listers and her sister Kate have appeared in a film based on the lives of Freda and Greta Chaplin, the twin sisters of Tan Hall, who shot in the early 1980s following the sensational court incident in York.
The twins were charged in York Magistrates' Court with a peace violation for harassing local truck driver Ken Ivesson.
It was the first time their strange life had attracted the attention of more and more public people. And their stories were reported in newspapers all over the world. Journalists from Brazil, Sweden and Minnesota have covered the incident.
The twins were strange mirror images of each other. They dressed in the same way, talked at once, and even took a step.
They will be inseparable and will scream together to plead for their innocence at trial.

“No, no, no, no. It's not true. It's not true. We weren't close to him, we weren't close, it's a bitter, bitter lie.”
They were jailed for a month.
Media interest continued, and two documentaries were made in their lives. One is a pair of Julia Darlings photographed in 1987, and twins by Journeyman in 1994.
Greta passed away in 2007, followed by Freda in 2020. They are buried together in Fulford Cemetery.
But now, their strange life stories are undergoing treatment in Hollywood.
Filming is currently underway in the film “Backing Fastard.” Rooney Mara is famous for her role in Dragon Tattoo and Carol Girl – and her sister Kate appeared in Brokeback Mountain and the Fantastic Four. They play inseparable twin sisters Jaune and Jean, modeled after Freda and Greta's lives.

The film's title, Backing Fastard, is based on the slippage of words that the twins made at the same time during their trial.
Mara's sisters are considered Hollywood “royal”. Award-winning Rooney is a partner of Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix, and Kate is married to Billy Elliott's star Jamie Bell.

In his memoirs, for everyone, for everyone, Herzog recalls meeting Chaplin's twins and being struck by their uniqueness, especially the way they spoke on foot.
He recalled their meeting.
“They wore the exact same clothes, hairstyles and shoes. Their handbags and umbrellas were the same.

“When they walked, they didn't walk like soldiers, left and right, left and right, but they had their inner legs together and kept their time with their outer legs.
“You could have folded those photos, and the two halves would have matched.”
Filming began this spring in Ireland and Slovenia.
