Tesla is a band that celebrates the best spirit of rock and roll. Their bluesy, soulful sound is deeply rooted in authentic 1970s rock and roll. Coming from the roots that produced bands such as Aerosmith, AC/DC and Grand Funk Railroad, Tesla is known for hits such as “Love Song” and “Signs.”
Formed in 1984 in Sacramento, California as City Kidd, the band renamed themselves TESLA in honor of Nikola Tesla, the eccentric inventor who pioneered all things electrical. Their 1986 debut album, Mechanical Resonance, went platinum with Top 40 hits “Modern DAy Cowboy” and “Little Suzi.” Their second album, The Great Radio Controversy, went double platinum with hits like “Love Song” and “Heaven's Trail (No Way Out).” This success catapulted the band to headlining status, touring with artists like Def Leppard and David Lee Roth.
In 1990, TESLA released “Five Man Acoustical Jam,” a pioneering rock album that mixed hits with various covers, including “Signs,” TESLA's biggest hit single. More albums followed, including the platinum-selling “Psychotic Supper” and “Bust a Nut.” Today, TESLA continues to wow fans with his bluesy, energetic rock recordings and sold-out venues around the world.
