Series creator Erin Foster wrapped up the second season of Netflix Smash’s hit “Nobody Wanted This.” No, really just: The team behind Adam Brody and Kristen’s Bellstar romantic comedy based on Foster’s own life and marriage. Eleven hours later, Foster zoomed in with IndyWire to talk about the success of the show’s first season (we promise that a full interview with Foster will arrive at IndyWire in the coming weeks).
Soon, Foster has promises and vows. It will become something people love. And why shouldn’t it? The show that hit streamer last fall was an instant hit (within Netflix’s first week it hit the number one slot on Netflix’s own list and A type that will remind people what (which will earn passionate critical reviews in the process) Authentic On-screen chemistry appears to be stacked on the star (or especially when?), ostensibly Hot Rabinois (Brody) and Agnostic Podcaster Joan (Bell), which appear to be stacked on the star.

“It’s romantic and funny. I’m not a business of taking people what they want with shows like this and making artistic choices to you to take you what you want,” Foster told Indywire. “I really tried to keep the points in season 1, [it] All these first, first kiss, first date, and this will be the next 4-6 months of the relationship that It looks like it. ”
So, is there no time jump? No, Foster said Noah would pick Joan firmly, and he’ll pick one or two weeks after the season finale event. “It’s like they made that decision. He chose her. What now?” Foster said.

And how about the show? other A kind of -sorta-no-oh-no cheating between Joan’s (single) sister Morgan (Justin Lupe) and Noah (married) brother Sasha (Timothy Simons)? Likewise, that is true. “They live a bit in the grey area and they exist in the grey area,” she said. “It’s like, ‘We don’t want this, but do we want it? Is there something there? No, there’s nothing. There’s something there, but there’s nothing.” That’s what it is. ”
Elsewhere, Foster hopes that this season’s guest star Cavalcade, some of them have already been announced (Leyton Meester, Miles Fowler, Alex Kalpovsky, Arian Moad, etc.), and while some of them are still kept secret, it will delight fans. And yes, she swears she’s sneaking into Easter eggs for Brody and Meester’s super fans (the couple has been married in real life for over a decade).
“I definitely threw some funny lines between Adam and Layton for the audience,” she said. “And I really hope for people – no, know People – I’m grateful. ”
Brody and Meester are not the only real-life lovers working on the series together, as Foster’s own husband and Noah’s inspiration, music executive Simon Tikman also offers his skills to the show. “We have great music. We’re doing the soundtrack this year like the official soundtrack,” Foster said. “My husband, Simon, is actually involved in it, because his record label is on Interscope and they do the soundtrack. We have unreleased music from the giant stars.”

The season is also led by new showrunners Jenni Connor and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who will take over from Foster and Craig Digregorio, who served that ability in the first season. For Foster, an executive producer and continuing to be the show’s creative voice, it was a positive change.
“We have a new team. We have a new showrunner and people who are affiliated with Season 2,” she cried. “Last year, we had some great people. This year, we have some great people. And we have a big team at the top. … Season 1, you’re nervous about how things go, so season 2, I have people around me that I can trust more. [her clothing brand] Meet if necessary. ”
Another change? She’s not pregnant this time! Still, Foster remembers the day she filmed the first season, preparing for the arrival of her first child with a lot of affection. “Being pregnant was a huge gift, honestly, because I balanced everything,” she said. “Every time it was really tough at work, I would say, ‘I bring people into the world and that’s more important.’ And when I was really pregnant, if something went wrong, I would pay attention to the stress of my work. ”
Season 2 of “Nobody Wanted to This” will begin streaming on Netflix on a date announced in 2025.
