The mighty jeans are probably the most worn-out fashion item in any woman’s wardrobe.
Denim is one of the easiest fabrics to wear. Not only is it mostly comfortable, but the way it shapes your body is always flattering. Plus, jeans are always stylish. No matter what microtrends go back and forth over the years, you know that no matter how many years you are, you will be wearing jeans all your life.
But as we age, it can be a bit of a hindrance when deciding which jeans are the most flattering and easy to wear. Needless to say, there are so many different styles these days. Knowing where to start is a lot of work.
Don’t worry, we have you covered!
Hello! We spoke with Julie Player, a stylist and fashion editor. The Julie Player gave us some of the best tips on jeans to try when you’re over 60.
“I am a firm believer in wearing the jean style you want, no matter your age. However, there are a universally flattering specific cuts and finishes, especially for more mature women,” explains the wardrobe stylist.
What is the most flattering of your 60s and 70s?
Julie explains: “Dark denim always looks smarter than smarter and sophisticated cleaning. It avoids things that have been too tormented and leaves rifts and holes for the younger generation (it’s also very bad for the environment).
Avoid elastic styles
Do you think elasticity is more tolerant? Think again, Julie says. “Don’t be fooled by thinking you need a resilient waist for comfort. A well-cut pair with plenty of stretch gives you an equally comfortable and smarter look.”
Try barrel jeans
The fashion specialist said: “I’m in my late 50s and I love the trends in barrel leg jeans I wear with flat loafers and sweatshirts. They’ve breathed new life into my wardrobe.”
High Waist Boot Cut
Fashionista adds that traditional bootcuts give you a great shape.
“But if you want to invest in a more classic cut, a pair of high-waisted bootcut jeans is very flattering.”
