John Voight has a suggestion to “make Hollywood great again.” Plan Details The special Hollywood ambassador presented to Oscar winners and President Donald Trump was previously wrapped. As he says, “It’s been revealed that plans have been made to see productions return to America and Hollywood to thrive and make films bigger and bigger than ever,” as Voight said Monday.
We now know last week everything Voight has been placed in front of Trump and some studios and streamers. TV is also included. Midnight Cowboy The star is seeking a 10%-20% federal tax credit that will be “stackable” for what states already offer, such as California (drubbing in Voight documents), Georgia and New York. Meanwhile, there is a hammer coming down. US-based production “may have been produced in the US, but producers choose to produce abroad and therefore receive production tax incentives.[e]the proposal given to Trump screams.
This follows his special advisor Stephen Paul and SP Media Group/Atlas Comics President Scott Carol, who is sitting around town with unions, government officials and executives around the town at the beginning of the year. Voight’s plans were handed over to Trump on Mar-A-Lago the day before Potus went online, declaring that it wanted “100% tariffs on all films coming to our country, produced on foreign lands.” In response, California Gov. Gavin Newsom late last night urged Trump to fall behind the $7.5 billion national incentive program.
A video from Voight describing his meeting, including Trump, has been uploaded to X on Deadline. Apart from direct incentives, Voight’s proposal also includes streamers. In the proposal, he pitches important ownership among streamers like Netflix and producers. The shutdown of financial benefits and a return to syndication rules is proposed in the hopes of overturning what is called the “Draconian Licensing Conditions.” Voight and Team hope that eligible productions will “meet the minimum threshold American “cultural tests.” Similar measures are being used in the UK and Canada.
The proposal “applies to content generated for theatrical distribution. US broadcast networks, US cable channels, streaming services (including Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Apple, Peacock, Paramount+, Hulu), and digital platforms (e.g. YouTube, YouTube TV, X, Facebook) essentially mean that they’ll respond.
