Do you think you have quite a bit of knowledge about modern pop culture topics? You can test your knowledge and see others do so by participating in the upcoming trivia takeovers held by Campus Nightlife.
The Trivia Takeover will take place on March 27th at the Platte River Room in Nebraska Union. The event begins at 7pm and ends at 9pm.
As for what to expect during the main event, four rounds of trivia will appear in finely tuned competitions between each round. Audiences can also participate when hosts walk around the room, ask questions, and invite volunteers to participate in “geek alerts” or Wynn-tuned assignments.
“Geet Alert” will feature volunteers from the audience compete for the award. Each “geek alert” has a different subject, so if one of them doesn’t intrigue your interest, I’m looking forward to it even more. Two winning teams in the main trivia event will also receive prizes.
Participants will be asked all sorts of trivia questions that originate from various aspects of pop culture. All students are welcome to offer event passes for free just by watching the competitors compete.
Reshell Ray, UNL’s Associate Director of Programs and Events, said the event will be enjoyable for all attendees. She said each team will consist of five individuals, whether they know each other or not.
“It’s great to have an event where you can come and meet new people, in addition to students who have a gathering of friends who want to come and compete with them,” Ray said.
Kevin Shroyer, performer of Nerdology, the company responsible for the event, will be holding the event with another performer, John Moore. The pair are improvisers and will keep the show interesting and comedic.
Shroyer said a variety of pop culture topics will be tested on anyone who is competing.
“It covers all sorts of topics like ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Star Wars’, sports, history, something little for everyone,” Schroyer said.
If you and your friends are looking for a fun time and chance to win prizes, don’t miss this event. Whether you’re competing at the main trivia event, tackling a challenge along the way, or cheering from the audience, Trivia Takeover promises interesting time for everyone who participates.
The last time it was held was back in October 2021, so take advantage of the opportunity. After all, who knows when he’ll be back again?
