Wayne’s reformed fountain held its first full concert of 12 years on Saturday, with New Jersey Power Pop Rockers offering an hour-long set in Boca Raton, Florida.
Earlier this year, surviving members of Wayne’s Fountain (singer Chris Collingwood, guitarist Jody Porter and drummer Brian Young) announced plans to reunite the gig at Summerfest in Milwaukee in July. The group has added several more shows, including Saturday’s gig at the Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton, filling in the void left by the death of Eve 6’s Max Collins, founder bassist Adam Schlesinger.

Saturday’s concert featured a set list of 15 songs that were completely culled from the band’s first three acclaimed albums, including the 1996 Self-Title LP, the 1999 Utopia Parkway, and the 2003 Welcome Interstate Manager.
In addition to the Summerfest gig, Wayne’s Fountain will also perform on September 26th, Ocean City, Maryland’s Marine Coal Festival.
Schlesinger passed away in April 2020 at the age of 52 due to complications of Covid-19. Soon after, during coronavirus quarantine, his bandmates reunited to perform essentially in the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund profit livestream, with the help of Sharon Van Etten, for the first time since 2013.
After Schlesinger’s death, his longtime friend and bandmate Collingwood paid tribute to him Rolling Stone Interview. “Adam’s greatest skill was distilling the genre to its essence and recreating it perfectly. He understood himself and always said it,” Collingwood said.
“That ability came from being fluent in the language of pop music, being able to listen analytically for many years and playing many different instruments. Some of my guitarist friends found themselves not knowing what a drummer or bass player is doing at the moment they are given them.
