The Sustainable Fashion Innovation Event Challenge The Fabric (CTF) concluded its fifth edition in Milan last week.
Hosted by the Ekman Group and held at the Swedish Fashion Council, the event attracted key stakeholders in the MMCF supply chain of fashion, textiles and forest industries.
The two-day program featured a panel discussion on topics such as supply chain collaboration, innovation scaling, and evolving law.
Highlights include the session on Circulation Innovation with Distribution and Trend Business, the implications of wood-based fiber scalability through IKEA and TreeToTextile AB, and the methodology of New Product Environmental Footprint (PEF).

Nina Elmerson, VP Innovare, Ekman Group, said:
“Speaking conversations, collaborations and sharing this year’s insights have reaffirmed the power of connection in driving real change. Furthermore, the CTF Awards are a valuable example of how collaboration between emerging designers and materials innovators opens up to new perspectives and directions in the industry.”
Swedish designer Petra Fagerstrom has been awarded the CTF Award, celebrating emerging talent and material innovation. She was praised for her sustainable materials and approach to textile storytelling. This design utilizes melted wood pulp sappi vave and patented biodegradable wood-based lyocell fiber ecocell.
