On Friday, May 9th, the 26th Annual Film Festival at Righetti High School, featuring over 20 films produced by over 20 students, filled the gym with a welcoming and exciting atmosphere.
Righetti students, parents and friends enjoyed the films that were shown on the gym stage and celebrated the hard work they placed this year. Students enjoyed pizza after setup and performed karaoke before participants arrived.
Media Arts teacher Jacob Gustafson said the festival was a great evening for students, featuring incredible works created by students each year, and it has become the future of film.
Gustafson said the show features a great blend of artistic voices and genres, including comedy, horror, documentaries and drama.
“I am very proud of them and the outstanding efforts they have put in their films. Some of the films on display have already been selected for film festivals, including the upcoming Central Coast Film Association student showcase,” Gustafson says.
The students discovered this experience. This has become a school tradition and is fascinating.
Senior Samuel Cornejo said he enjoys a variety of films and sees how filmmakers have implemented ideas on screen.
“This was my fourth and final film festival and it's sad that it's over, but I hope I will continue to work at Alan Hancock College and work at their film festival,” Cornejo said.
“This was my first film festival and it exceeded my expectations. The film was better than I thought, so it was a lot of fun,” said freshman Jaden Mendoza.
Caleb Nogales, a senior who pursues film at Utatech, said, “The atmosphere in the room was very exciting. The audience was hooked on the film. This is my fourth and I can't wait to see what RHS students create last year.
