Warner Bros Discovery announced on Friday that Max’s “Pit” has an average of over 10 million viewers worldwide.
The Noah Weill-led medical drama, which concluded its first 14-episode season on Thursday night, grew for 13 consecutive weeks with the January 9th premiere of its second-part series for the final 13-week episode. The premier has tallied 16.2 million global audiences so far.
Max previously greenlighted the second season of “Pit” in February. Creator R. Scott Gemmill told TheWrap that Season 2 will pick up 10 months after the season finale, spinning over the weekend of July 4th and premiere within the year.
“I think a large part of the characters will come back. There may be some people who haven’t returned because they work night shifts, and they may not be able to see them later… like we did with Abbott,” he added. “Most of my favorite characters definitely return to some degree of ability.”
In “The Pitt,” Weil stars as Dr. Michael “Robby” Lovinavich, the chief attendant in the emergency room at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital.
The show also traces the dramatic encounters and internal struggles facing Dr. Robbie’s crew, played by Tracy Ifecher, Patrick Ball Katherine Ranasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Brionnaise, Guerlain Howell and Shabana Ashes.
Gemmil executives will reunite the trio after working together with Wyle and John Wells on “ER.” The Show, produced by John Wells Productions in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, debuted as one of the top five most viewed original series premieres to date.
Despite the successful rating, the show has been the subject of a legal battle between Warner Bros Discovery and the Michael Criton Estate. The decision on the case is delayed and the judge has not disclosed the timeline for the final verdict.
All 14 episodes of “The Pitt” are now available for streaming on Max.
