Saturday at Pimlico was electricity from start to finish.
Thousands filled the basis for the main event, and fashion did not disappoint. The tailored suits, colorful dresses, crunchy sneakers and stylish hats all revolved. Each section (from private chalets to Aflop leaks) had its own atmosphere, but was ready for everyone to see.
As someone who has been in attendance for many years, I felt this year was different. Preakness’s 150th run carried real weight, especially in cities like Baltimore, where tradition is important. More people appeared. They stayed later. I could feel this wasn’t just another race day (of course, there wasn’t any rain!).
On stage, Wyclef Jean lost the crowd when he played guitar with his tongue (yes, really). T-Pain continued on a set filled with hits that turned the infield into a full-fledged party. Carmelo Anthony, Gov. Wes Moore, First Lady Dawn Moore, Cam Newton, Ray Lewis and Kevin Lyles were all found all day long.
But fashion? That’s what stole the show. Scroll down to see the outstanding look that defined the day.
