This interview contains spoilers for “Thunderbolts*.”
It remains to be seen whether Lewis Pullman plays the hero or the villain in his latest Marvel film, Thunderbolts*.
“He's very adaptable and he's easily influenced because he's not had a true, strong, reliable source of love in his life,” the actor said of his character, a dark superman known as Sentry/Void.
Think about what would happen if Superman were a super dress. Ah, it looks like he can evaporate people with the flick of his hand.
“There is a contrast between being all this powerful being and your biggest weakness and your main Achilles heels become your own,” Pullman said in a video call from his apartment in Los Angeles.
He was born and raised in the city after filming the Netflix film “Amazingly Bright Creatures,” based on the extremely popular novel by Shelby Van Pelt. It then went on to be a whirlwind press tour that took him from London to New York, Los Angeles and Miami, in time for his brother's wedding. He looked like he had tumbled off the beach with a white T-shirt, denim button-up and completely windy hair. Books by authors like novelist Harry Crew and playwright Sam Shepherd were stacked behind him, and boxes rested on the table.
“I really didn't have time to unpack,” he said, apologizing for the confusion.
Pullman – yes, Bill Pullman's son – is the breakout star in the latest Marvel film, celebrating his candid portrayal of mental health.
