“We teased this… what happened to my dad? How did he die? Was there a foul play?” Hartley added that Easter eggs have been dropped throughout the series. “We started the series with that, and now at the end of season two, we systematically chose it.”
On Sunday's episode, Hartley said there was a big revelation.
“It tells a bit of a cool story, so I open Pandora's box, but it tells the story too, so I'm very pleased and wonderful,” he said.
As the executive producer of the series, Hartley said he likes the show being a “hero,” but not necessarily a “superhero.”
“I think one of the things people connect is that he is vulnerable so he can get injured,” Hartley told Nate Burleson, co-host of “CBS Morning.” “And I think you'll lose a bit when you put on the cape.”

“You see him collapse in a way you don't expect. He's on his head, he hears this information, he's overwhelmed and he collapses a bit,” Hartley said.
