In a surprising turn of events involving a mother who allegedly killed two children to assert life insurance benefits, the deceased child’s maternal aunt rebutted the claim that she had reported her mother to the police.
Family under pressure from online rumors

Amid rising speculation on social media that a woman identified as TTTN killed two sons and demanded insurance payments, Vietnam Net spoke on NTBT (born 1989) on April 4.
Speaking to the media, Mr. T said he has been suffering emotionally over the past two days. The facts surrounding the incident are due to inaccurate information and images spreading widely online, putting strong pressure on the family.
She denied the social media claims and suggested that her nie (NN’s third child) suspected her mother’s intentions and asked authorities to report it.
“I asked nie directly and she said: ‘Mom has done nothing wrong with me.” Also, I have never reported this incident to the police, but contrary to what is being charged online, I never reported it to the police,” she revealed.
T explained that her brother (NN’s husband) was the driver who died of liver cirrhosis in 2019, leaving behind four children. After his death, N.

“When my first child died, we believed it was a tragic accident. But when my second child died under similar circumstances, I became suspicious and reported it to the local police to clarify the issue. The conclusion at that time was that the child had owned. Since then, the family had not requested that the investigation be resumed,” she said.

“Without cheating, rumors targeting my sister-in-law, who have been around for years, can take a break,” she said.
She hopes the issues will be resolved soon so that two nies, currently in grades 9 and 11, can focus on their research. “They’ve been subjected to great stress because of this,” she added.

Nguyen Dinh Hai, head of the housing group where NN lives, said she is often away from home and he doesn’t know what she is doing.
In both 2021 and 2023, people claiming to represent the life insurance company visited him to confirm the information after the death of their child. He recalls that his family was informed that both children had been drowned in the bucket, but said he had no further knowledge of the actual situation.
Authorities punish misinformation spreaders

As previously reported by Vietnam Net on April 3, an unverified social media post claimed that a woman named TTTN killed two children in Quang Nam to claim life insurance.
On the same day, multiple videos were shared showing Quang Nam police visiting a woman’s home in Hamtown, Binh district. The video shows authorities escort her into the vehicle and promote online speculation.
Virus posts quickly circulated across various platforms, causing public anxiety.
In response to media enquiries, Quang Nam State Police officials said the incident, including the death of a child, occurred some time ago and could not yet be classified as a “mother killing” incident.
Previously, Thang Binh District Police investigated the matter but did not press for accusations. When district police were dissolved and the case was moved to the state level, authorities thought there were open questions and resumed the review process.
Authorities warned that anyone who shares livestreams or unverified information about the incident will be subject to penalties.
