Vernon discusses the quality of the song’s film and the “visual story”, his subconscious as his favorite collaborator, and how it helped him return to the side after a tough chapter. It’s also the influence of Ricky Lee Jones (“Horse” is his second favorite song), why the band didn’t play “Exile” without Taylor Swift (“It’s Her Song”), and like snow falling with Daniel Heim (“She’s one of my favorites”) during the recording.
I also go back to Bon Iver’s lore to look back at the cover of “Your Love” in the outfield. Vernon is still thinking about some of Bon Iver’s best cover works. “It was a huge moment for us,” he says.
