Jamie Karager previously sparked controversy for his downplay of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigerian Afrobeat Star Fireboy DML has responded to Jamie Karager’s now flashy remarks about the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) by dismissing the opinion of Africa’s biggest soccer exhibition of Africa’s legendary.
In recent episodes of the ’90s Baby Show, Fireboy by her real name, Adedamola Adefolahan, was not absent.
When asked about Carragher’s claim that AFCON is “not a major tournament,” Fireboy replied:

Fireboy also spoke on behalf of many Africans who have long felt that football’s achievements were being rejected on the global stage.
“It’s a major tournament for Africans. As a Nigerian, as an African football fanatic, that means a lot to me. I’m being coordinated to see all the AFCON games. It’s a special moment for me and it’s similar to that with other Africans,” he said.

Carragher first commented while analyzing Mohamed Salah’s Ballon D’Or Prospects a few weeks ago.
Liverpool legend argued that playing for AFCON puts Sarah at a disadvantage and that even if Egyptian legend wins the tournament and is nominated as a player in the tournament, “it will not be enough to secure him a prize.”
After facing backlash from African legends such as Jay Jay Okocha, John Mikel Obi and Emmanuel Adebayor, Carragher has announced a public apology via social media.
“It’s ignorant and rude to me not wanting to be described as a critic. That wasn’t my purpose,” he said, admitting that “I was clumsy in my language.”
Still, in the classic expert way, Carragher has doubled CBS Sports:
“There are five major tournaments besides the World Cup, but some of them don’t resonate with those voting for the Ballon d’Or. That wasn’t an opinion, that was the case.”
His attempts to clarify seem to have done little to stop criticism.
