Penn Bajrie said he first rejected Dan’s breakout role in “Gossip Girl.”
As the actor told Alex Cooper in a call on her daddy podcast, “I was tired of television by the time ‘Gossip Girl’ came… I turned down the role first, and I didn’t just turn it down.
He said, “By the time I was 20, I was really disillusioned, tired of being in Hollywood and tired of acting. I’ve been doing it all since I was 12… I was tired of me at 20, 20, which I don’t think is typical.”
The actor’s early roles include playing Philip Chancellor IV in “Young and the Restless” and playing Joel Larson in “Do Over” on WB.
Budley added that he only agreed to take on the role after he was almost broken. And after telling his manager he should do it, it means he was filming in New York.

“I spent quite a Spartan years behind me and I enjoyed my way of life. [like] My manager certainly talked about it in the way he thought it was a good idea. A few important people near me, and it was New York City. I now live in New York City, where I lived now. This is my home. I’ve always wanted to live there. ”
He said, “I’m 38. I’m gonna turn 39 this year. I’ll be 40 next year. I’m answering questions about this show I decided to do when I was 20.”
Bajri also shared his reaction when it was discovered that his character was a nominal “Gossip Girl.”
“I was in the trailer room with hair and makeup. I don’t remember what I was wearing. JFK was not assassinated that day. I’m just a gossip girl, but I thought, “Yeah, I mean, I found something really slow.”
Bajri returns to season 4 of “You,” which premieres on Netflix on Thursday.
